Hello, world!
I'm a 36 year old #GURPS enthusiast. Loved the ruleset since I was a young kid. Played a bit here and there but haven't been able to keep up a group until about 2 months ago with the help of good friends and the magic of virtual table tops :)
Currently running a homebrew Shadowrun game with the help of GURPS Ultra-Tech and Magic. It's working well so far :)
I'm very happy to find a Mastodon community that shares a similar interest. See you around the fediverse!
I'm working on a #GURPS framework for #MapTool (https://rptools.net). So far I have the attributes sheet nearly sorted. It updates and affects the pop-over stat sheets.
Interactive rolls are next.
Things I've written into MapTool for my #GURPS campaign that I'm proud of so far:
1. Custom Dice rolling
2. An open-ended skill/stat check macro
3. HP/FP adjuster macros that apply 1/2 move/dodge if the resulting HP is low enough.
Really getting the hang of this. I'm eager to see how far I can take it. I've started a library token so that I can write custom character sheets and eventually compendium management.
The people who came together to make MapTool also make TokenTool! It's fairly straight forward to just make frames and quickly save tokens with TokenTool.
#GURPS done old school with the exception of my laptop + MapTool. Classic, simple and fun.
All of the players never played before and were provided simple, pre-made sheets for a one-shot adventure. It was a lot of fun!
Don't mind me, I'm just using https://heroforge.com to make more tokens with the help of Inkscape.
Yes, heroforge has its own frames for tokens. No, it will not cover all of the monsters/encounters out there, so I have my own frame :)
Here's a quick silent vid from yours truly on some of the cool photo booth options.

Also, if you haven't heard of https://www.heroforge.com/ yet, I seriously think all of you virtual table top nuts should check it out!
The quality of my tokens is going to be next level thanks to this tool.
I think I'd like to start blogging my experiences with MapTool to show others what it's like to use it.
I am a programmer. They say MapTool has a large learning curve. Subjectively this is not the case for me. MT is macro heavy and I'm good w/ that
There are plenty of pre-written frameworks but I've chosen to make my own GURPS framework as the current community framework seems abandoned.
So far I got basic/secondary stats auto calculating. Also, basic dice macros.
Eventually our heroes ended up stranded on the other side of the border at a safe house. On the news, the following aired on the radio!
I love making bonus content for these campaigns. My wife was super helpful!

Unfortunately our "heroes" were too noisy to show up at their mark's hideout without them being prepared.
Two painful battles ensued against mages, automated defenses and a 12 foot flying feathered serpent.
Here they are nursing their injuries.
A gold star to our "heroes" for trying to bluff their way through the border crossing to Tir Tairngire with the wrong ID, the right paperwork and a couple hours late to cross due to the windshield incident last week.
It was a valiant effort, but murdering everyone to get through ended up being the way, as it often is with this group 😂
Note the guard crunched on the border fence. It was hilariously fun mayhem.
Other Players: "You realize that we're gonna have a hard time getting that van through the checkpoint with a slug through the windshield and blood all over the inside, right?"
Epsil0n: "I dunno, the way Smiley popped that driver was preeeetty hot. Do you know how much recoil his slug-thrower has?"
Smiley: "It's like a hug everytime I fire it."
Soooo I'm also doing a thing for LGBTQ folk in the UK, and wanting to set up a Queer Gaming Café basically, and having been turned down for a loan I need to CrowdFund it.
I try and live to be the person I needed when I was younger, now I'm trying to provide the place I needed when I was younger.
If you can donate anything to help, that would be amazing. If you can share the link, that's just as amazing.

Middle aged and enjoying GURPS thanks to the power of the Internet and the magic of virtual table tops.
