Been chipping away at our stack from SPIEL. Because I work during events, we don't really have a lot of time to demo things. I do research before the show and Steve does some during, but we still come home with stacks of unknowns.
We try to play games from shows quickly so we can get them new homes if they're not for us, while the selling is still good.
I've been adding more merch to my store today! For someone that's supposed to be running a game company, I sure seem to just be selling merch 😅 But! Here's a thread about that.
I launched my own studio a week before I signed as the head of US Sales for a pretty big publisher. The timing was done specifically for legal reason re:contracts, and everyone involved is happy with the deal. But I work a 50-60 hour work week job in games and then my hobby is.. running my own game studio.
Steve found and printed off a print and play version of the oldest known board game with rules, The Royal Game of Ur. It's a two player roll and move and we are getting mean with each other.
We're playing the British Museum's version of the ruleset but with 5 pieces each instead of 7, for a shorter game. The earliest known board found dates back to 2600-2400 BC.
I'm not sure if this group is here, but let's see. I'm really passionate about #sustainabiity in #games, specifically #tabletop. So I've worked with some experts from around the world to make a document. Looking for first draft readers :)
Professionals in gaming or sustainability for now, sorry folks. But you can sign up for the mailing list at greengamesguide.com when we go live.
Right! I guess more #introduction stuff is appropriate. I'm T, a bit of a board game nerd from way of Twitter. I've worked in the industry for ten years as a content creator, then marketing manager and then sales. Previously at Deepwater, HABA, SB, now doing my own thing at Cabin Games while running Hachette Game's US games sales.
Big threads of industry insider knowledge is my Twitter legacy.
People, please start using CamelCase (aka PascalCase) to break apart words in #HashTags.
It makes it easier to read and more #accessible. Single words are OK to keep lowercase, unless they are proper nouns 😉
As an instance moderator, it makes it easier to review of you're a #MastoAdmin.
#Mastodon #HashTag #accessibilty
Please #boost this for visibility and to help improve the lives of many people.
Going to try a thing: white guys, please boost!!
Comment here if you're: queer and/or BIPOC and you are interested in talking about #TTRPGs #GameDesign #LARP or #games #art so we can create some discoverability for marginalized folks trying to find community with each other
I'll start! I'm a queer trans nb person who designs and publishes tabletop games and LARPs about gender and queerness. My jam lately has been happy games about queer people finding love and community
We're trying to play thru and complete the full campaign from Miller Zoo, a #boardgame I'm importing next year for Hachette, during this holiday break. It's a co-op game about caring for a zoo and the art of the animals is amazing. These are all real animals at the real Miller Zoo!
I want to wish everyone in #boardgames and everyone else a very, very warm, safe and cozy holiday season. Rest, heal, recover. Photo by Evelin Horvath
Steve and I are camping in our van on what will likely be the coldest night of the year, in the mountains after we had a great day hiking in snow and visiting hot springs. We're playing Eyelet as we cuddle under a blanket on the bench.
It's a two player threading game by Amabel Holland. It's a solid table-less game that's simple and very, do what you can with what you have. Perfect after a long day of work, hikes, and hot springs.
Happy Winter Solstice! This is the winter holiday I celebrate personally 🥰 So go put some (appropriate) food out for the critters, treat yourself softly and kindly, and maybe write down something you regret from this year and burn it. Be gentle to yourself at the close of this year and greet tomorrow knowing there will only be more light from here til summer 😘
Hey, I'm Peter and I draw comics (and also illustrations) of mostly fantasy and sci-fi stuff! I've worked on the Avatar comics, written some Dragon Prince graphic novels, and also a few creator-owned things.

#HappyHanukkah to everyone here that celebrates!! (And Happy Holidays to everyone else that has already done/started their winter festivities.)
Steve and i did another board game collection evaluation to get back to "everything on a shelf." We've got about 15 titles that'll be looking for new homes, but in the shuffle we finally played this little gem we got from SPIEL. One Card Dungeon from Little Rocket Games.
Designed by Barny Skinner, this little game surprised us in being an interesting rogue-like experience that succeeds with only one card... And 12 dice. But it was a delightful solo game to co-op play during dinner.
Dear #BoardGame people, I am looking for good two-player games - what are your favourites?
Polite reminder, mastodon users with visual impairments went to a lot of trouble getting people to use the alternative text description facility on image uploads. Spending energy over the past 5 years reminding people in the kindest ways to caption images. Please lets not lose that ethos. There are so many photos without alternative text captions now. It isn't difficult to do, and only takes a little effort to develop the habit. #image #Caption
