I'm finding FF14 online to be the Burning Man of MMOs. There's a lot of wacky self-expression and the overall game is better enjoyed with a "wander and explore" mindset than the "rush and grind" mindset.

Only about 25% of quests are combat - the rest are traveling and talking. If you just skip the dialog, then you are missing most of the game just to get to the fights. I'm treating the game as an interactive novel with a little combat.
