Almost forgot about this: it's only ~3h left for the Thirsty Sword Lesbians RPG Kickstarter!

Right now I'm going with "the caster casts a single spell to set the ship at warp speed towards any point they want, but doing this requires them to open their brain to the cosmic leylines running through the universe" resulting in an Apocalypse World-style psychic maelstrom roll. This sort of means there's not gonna be a distinction between psionics and spellcasters, but I'm fine with that for the time being.
Something I really like from Spelljammer is FTL travel being linked to spellcasting, but "a wizard or a cleric sits down in this fancy chair and can then pilot the spaceship for free" isn't really involved enough for my tastes. But requiring spell slots to move a set distance seems tedious and unfun and like it would just lead to stopping for a long rest however many times on long trips. Not to mention the GM would need to define distances between each planet at a finer level.
ttrpg opinions question
In a "wizards and spaceships" setting (sort of like spelljammer/star wars/numenera but not bound to any specific lore because I haven't written it yet) what sorts of characters would you want to play? What features would you want the system to have?
Hey, I haven't been on this account in a long while. I've since re-joined Mastodon @Robot_Face. I was posting a bunch about a TTRPG I'm writing and it occurred to me that I actually have an account on a relevant instance! So, if you want to hear about a PBtA/GLoG hack inspired by Spelljammer and Star Wars, feel free to ask me!
Also, I suppose this counts as an #introduction
