That was faster than I anticipated! My new non-challenge-based fantasy #RPG, Journey Away, is now available for sale on DriveThruRPG!
Currently it's just the PDF version; there's still a bit to do before the print version can be sold.
But still! It's my game! I did that!
Don't worry, I won't be spamming the TL about it, but it *is* my livelihood, so maybe fill in the gap with some boosts? Thanks!
Also, it includes art by a fellow denizen of the Fediverse, the highly talented @Cakechoz !
@jskellogg Fill me in. What does a non-challenge-based game look like?
In most RPGs, the game puts a challenge in front of you, then you decide how to overcome it and you use the game's core mechanic (such as a d20 roll) to see whether you've overcome (or made progress against) that challenge.
Journey Away doesn't do that. The core mechanic just prompts you to add events or wrinkles to the shared narration, enriching the story without dictating how things play out. Failure only happens if that's how you'd prefer the wrinkles to manifest.
@jskellogg Thank you for clarifying.
@jskellogg Oh, looks like it was yesterday! oops! :P
