Hey everyone! I’m Guy, a UX designer from Toronto. Lover of music, movies, tv, books, comics, and games, mostly of the tabletop kind. Looking to meet likeminded people who care less about winning a game and more about a shared positive(!) human experience.
Another thing that irritates me about articles talking about how layoffs mark “the end of good working conditions in tech” is that they completely ignore the working conditions of any marginalized people working in tech.
They ignore the many existing issues in this field.
I’m genuinely scared and anxious about the amount of people who just got laid off across tech.
I can’t help anyone, and all I can do is hope it doesn’t happen to me.
Dudes, this sucks so much.

I’m finding my feed skews very white and male despite the fact that I followed a lot of my Twitter friends over here.
I also find a lot of folks on here very “old guard”, in the sense that they have been here a long time and want you to know it, and that your opinion doesn’t count if you’re new. Some people have been quite rude.
Idk. I’m still not convinced.

The reason people who hate CSS simultaneously don't think it is a programming language is because they never moved past the piecemeal "add color to thing, add height to other thing" approach. When you start dealing in rules/constraints, forging *algorithms* that respond to contexts... then you are really writing CSS. And really programming.
Going to try a thing: white guys, please boost!!
