Why did D&D need a Pope? Like i know people tended to defer to Gary's rule clarifications, but i don't remember any single person being treated as Infallible the way 5E fans treat Jeremy Crawford.
@Capheind Submitted: 5E is not D&D, because there's not enough house rules. The people who play it largely play by the book. THOSE MONSTERS.
@mdhughes naw because 4e was also trash and people pointed to their Ten volume set of houserules to prove it was fine.
Actually i find that most people houserule away encumbrance and resource tracking which, for me, is what makes D&D what it is.
@mdhughes Actually when i play oldschool most of my houserules are rules snatched from other editions (Holmes Scroll rules for instance)
